In spelling, we have been working on when writers add apostrophes to words. We spent several days reviewing contraction words. Now, we are practicing when to use apostrophes with possessives (when someone owns or has something).
The students brought in a toy, snack, or picture so that everyone would have practice writing the possessive forms. In their readin journals, they wrote "This _____ belongs to ______." Then, everyone else wrote _________'s objects.
Below are some examples of what students brought in as well as the students working on writing the possessive form.
