Our First Science Experiment...

Today we did our first science experiment using the 6 steps of the scientific method (ask your child about the acronym for the 6 steps--it has to do with candy!)
Question: Which paper towel is most absorbent?
Hypothesis: The students then predicted which of the 6 paper towels they thought would hold the most droplets of water.
Materials: 6 different kinds of paper towels (Bounty, Viva, Brawny, school, Wal-Mart (Home), and Walgreens (Tuf) and an eye dropper.
Procedures: Add droplets of water onto the paper towel. Keep track of the number of droplets. Watch for the paper towel to "leak."
Observations: We then recorded how many drops each paper towel could hold. The numbers ranged from 40-300.
Conclusion: We plan to write this tomorrow when we can compare all of the data.

Make sure to ask your child which paper towel is the most absorbent! Below are pictures of the students completing the experiment!

Lauren, Kellie, and Elizabeth testing their paper towel.

Hunter, Zach, and Mary testing out the school paper towels.

Addi, Gaby, Thomas, and Brendan testing their hypotheses.

Team 4- Hanna, Ally, Carson, and G.J. dropping and counting droplets.

Aaron, Luke, Dawson, and Parker test out their paper towel.
