On Friday, December 17, they will complete a final project on the book they read for book clubs. This has always been a favorite thing for students and has already received "two-thumbs up" from many students.

Book Clubs Have Started!
For the next week, the students will be reading chapter books in their "Book Clubs." The students browsed through 8 books and wrote down which books they would like to read. There are 6 Book Clubs. Two groups are reading The White Giraffe (one of my many favorites) while the other four groups are reading Stone Fox, The Million Dollar Shot, The Bad Beginning (the first book from The Series of Unfortunate Events), and the last group is reading 6 different books (1 per day). Each group is assigned a leader for the day to lead discussion and reading. Then, each group reads a certain number of pages per day so that each group finishes on the same day. They will be graded on their comprehension (responses after daily reading), fluency, writing, and working with others.

Addi, Gaby, and Elizabeth read The White Giraffe by Lauren St. John.

Hunter, Thomas, Lauren, and Ally begin The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snickett.
Brendan, Rylie, Mary, G.J., and Carson read The Million Dollar Shot by Dan Gutman.
Aaron, Courage, Alex, and Dawson read Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardiner.
