Tuning Forks

Today during science the students rotated through 5 stations where they used tuning forks in various ways. Tomorrow we will talk about what they observed and how the sound vibrations from the forks caused new sounds and things to vibrate.

Love seeing the smiles and the uber amounts of concentration!

STATION #1- Using a tuning fork's vibrations to make a ping pong ball bounce.

So glad that I captured these smiles on camera!

STATION #2- Filling out vocabulary words with Mrs. Burnside.

STATION #3- Testing out how long the tone will last from the tuning forks as well as experimenting with tapping them gently and harder.

STATION #4- Putting the tuning forks on paper - the vibrations cause an amazing buzzing sound!

Zach's face is priceless in this one! And, Parker's smile is wonderful, too!

STATION #5- Adding a vibrating tuning fork to a cup of water. What will happen because of the vibrations?
